On Sunday night, some of the biggest names in the music industry hit up the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas and decided that sparkles and sequins make for the perfect additions to any red carpet get-up. Well, it is Sin City after all.

Taylor Swift always seems to bring some of that Nashville sparkle to any red carpet. She arrived at the show in a pale-hued, sequined Elie Saab gown. Nicki Minaj showed off her signature sense of style in her baby-blue, body-hugging spandex Mark Fast catsuit.

Selena Gomez turned up the style dial in a sexy, cut-out black Dolce & Gabbana gown that she paired with red strappy sandals with sparkly bow detailing. Like Gomez, Ke$ha opted for some cut-out detailing in her sparkly, slate-gray dress with tulle skirt. Rihanna looked white hot in her men's tailored Max Azria suit, which she kept sexy and feminine by not buttoning her shirt all the way.

Fergie went S&M chic in her little black bandage-type dress by Hervé Léger. Nicole Kidman also wore black. She paired a casual braid hairstyle with a long black gown and Keith Urban. British pop cutie Kyle Minogue looked funky in her little black lacey dress. Inside the show, Britney Spears sat in the audience wearing a skimpy black dress of her own, her hair in loose curls, with little-to-no accessories.

While some stars kept the color scheme low-key, Keri Hilson decided to stand out in her billowy little yellow dress paired with a turquoise-colored belt. Kelly Rowland showed off some of her best assets in a body-hugging, bright pink bandage dress.

The fellas also looked tight on the carpet. Joe Jonas wore all black with white sneakers, Ne-Yo paired his periwinkle suit with a Yankees cap and Justin Bieber wore black tuxedo pants with a gold-lamé tuxedo jacket.

Which stars' styles caught your eye at the Billboard Music Awards? Tell us in the comments.

Despite feeling a little under the weather, Justin Bieber performed for President Obama and his family at the 30th annual Christmas in Washington concert on Sunday, the Press Association reports. The show, which benefits the Children's National Medical Center, also featured performances by Jennifer Hudson, the Band Perry, "Victorious" star Victoria Justice and Cee Lo Green.

According to Aceshowbiz.com, Bieber performed his track "Mistletoe" — off his holiday album, Under the Mistletoe — during the annual event. This marks the second time the teen star has appeared on the show. He performed two years ago.

"Waking up with a bad cold ... weather change. but will be ready tonight for CHRISTMAS in WASHINGTON. #resting," he tweeted in the hours leading up to the show, later adding, "Feeling good. Just had some fun at rehearsals and now we r ready. Time to sing for the President. #canadianrepresenter. Seeing the fans ... being here again 2 years later. Feeling very #blessed and #grateful. Thank U! Great night! President Obama is one cool Prez. He told me he was 'chillin.' #PresidentialSWAG."

During the event, a number of Christmas classics like "This Christmas," "Silent Night," "Let It Snow" and "I'll Be Home for Christmas" were performed. The night ended with all of the performers, as well as the Obamas and host Conan O'Brien, taking the stage for "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing."

While the night was all about the holidays, O'Brien did manage to poke a little fun at Bieber during the show. "It's especially exciting to be here during this joyous season, when we celebrate the arrival of a miracle child, worshiped by millions around the world," he said. "Of course I'm talking about Justin Bieber."

The full concert is set to air Friday on TNT.

'Hunger Games': Top 10 Moments Of 2011

In this week's Hobnobbing, we reflect on the movie's milestones from the past year.
By Amy Wilkinson

If any film caught Internet fire this year, it was most certainly the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins' young-adult novel "The Hunger Games." Though the film had been optioned by Lionsgate way back in 2009, 2011 was the year fans finally saw all the pieces come together, from casting the titular tournament's 24 tributes to a teaser tidbit and full-length trailer.

As such, MTV News is taking a look back at all things "Hunger Games" with a list of the franchise's best moments from 2011 (in chronological order). Let the Games begin!

X Marks the Release Date
The year began with a bang when Lionsgate announced in late January that "The Hunger Games" would swoop into theaters March 23, 2012. Lionsgate set that particular date in its crosshairs hoping to capitalize on spring breaks and Easter weekend for the (mostly) family-friendly release.

Jennifer Lawrence Is Katniss Everdeen
The Reaping then began in earnest, with seemingly every young Hollywood actress vying for the coveted role of District 12's female tribute. Would it be Hailee Steinfeld? Kaya Scodelario? Abigail Breslin? In the end, MTV News had the pleasure of revealing that then-20-year-old Jennifer Lawrence, who nabbed an Oscar nomination for her work in 2010's "Winter's Bone," would enter the arena as the much-loved heroine.

But Who Will Play Peeta and Gale?
Similar speculation followed the casting of Katniss' two love interests — fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark and hunting buddy Gale Hawthorne. Nine young actors were reportedly in contention for one of the two roles, including "Weeds" star Hunter Parrish and "Wizards of Waverly Place" actor David Henrie, but, ultimately, Josh Hutcherson landed the role of Peeta while Liam Hemsworth won Gale.

First Look at Lawrence as Katniss
Salivating fans didn't have to wait too long for their first taste of Lawrence as Katniss, as she posed for the cover of Entertainment Weekly, flaunting the tribute's soon-to-be-iconic uniform. The styled snap quieted many critics who'd said the actress was too blond, too tall, too pretty or too whatever for the role.

Cinna Will Rock
There were no shortage of casting announcements in spring 2011, but none seemed to catch watchful fans off guard more than that of Lenny Kravitz landing the role of Katniss' stylist Cinna. But, really, it made a lot of sense, considering the musician's fondness for fashion. "I like clothes, and I like playing with clothes. Every now and again, you go south. It's all good. I enjoy fashion as an art," he told MTV News.

The Mockingjay Catches Fire
In a nifty bit of promotion, Lionsgate released the first "Hunger Games" poster in July, and it was literally on fire. Well, sorta. The one-sheet depicted Katniss' infamous talisman — a mockingjay pin — wreathed in glowing flames. The eye-catching motion poster definitely gave fans something to chew on while they waited for more first looks.

We Spy Two "Hunger Games" Hotties
Following in co-star Lawrence's footsteps, the men of "The Hunger Games" landed their own EW cover story, in which Hutcherson took the opportunity to quiet a few nagging concerns about his stature."Jennifer's not 2 feet taller than me!" he told the magazine. "If anything, maybe she's a half-inch taller."

November 2013 Is "Catching Fire"
We hadn't even seen a frame of the first film yet, yet Lionsgate announced a November 22, 2013, release date for the follow-up, "Catching Fire." With "The Twilight Saga" taking its final winter bow in 2012, it looks like "The Hunger Games" is poised to be the new holiday tentpole.

A Tasty Tease
All those cover images and promotional stills went only so far to sate fans' appetites. A cinematic preview was in order, and we at MTV were happy to deliver. During the closing moments of this year's Video Music Awards, viewers were treated to a 30-second sneak peek, following Katniss as she sprinted through the arena's blazing forest, with Gale's words of encouragement resounding in her ears. Sure, the bite was short, but it was still satisfying.

First Full-Length Trailer
Nearly three lean months followed before the first full-length trailer made its entrance into the arena. And boy, was it worth the wait. From the tearful reaping to the Games' taut opening moments, the clip was one of our top teases of the year, offering a promise of the big-screen awesomeness to follow.

Justin Bieber Tweets Encouragement To 'X Factor' Contestant

'Keep your head up,' Bieber wrote to eliminated teen Drew Ryniewicz.

There was just no consoling weepy 15-year-old "X Factor" contestant Drew Ryniewicz on Thursday night when she was sent home in an double elimination episode. The quirky teen with the fluttery, dramatic voice was in tears for most of the episode and when her time came even usually unflappable mentor Simon Cowell seemed choked up with emotion.

But avowed Belieber Ryniewicz got some serious consolation less than an hour after her run on the show ended when none other than idol add link: Justin Bieber Tweeted out a message of support to the Chino Valley, Arizona high schooler.

"@drewryniewicz keep your head up," Bieber wrote to the fan who showed off her bedroom shrine to the Canadian pop star during her audition episode. "I lost my first competition too. This is just the beginning for u. Never say never. Best wishes." Though the departure from the show hurt — fellow teen rapper Astro was also sent packing — Ryniewicz tried to keep an upbeat attitude, following up Bieber's Tweet with her own message of hope. "Hey thank you for your love!," . "I'll miss the xfactor but have a lot more in stor for you all! Upbeat? Yes."

Because she's a teenage girl who auditioned for the show with an impassioned take on Bieber's "Baby," Drew couldn't help bragging a short time later, "Justin Bieber follows me now!" Good sport that she is, Drew also gave props to the remaining girls on Team Simon, Melanie Amaro and Rachel Crow, while accepting some positive vibes from Astro, remaining contestant Marcus Canty and former "American Idol" contestant Casey Abrams.

One of Cowell's favorites, Ryniewicz was done in by her piano-driven, seated take on Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean," which the show's other judges dinged for being too sleepy. While Cowell said that criticism was "absolute nonsense," fiercely defending his decision to have her sing another ballad — though Drew seemed to have wanted otherwise — on Thursday night he made a startling admission. "The reason Drew is in this position tonight is my fault," said Cowell, typically adverse to any second-guessing or display of weakness. "I take total responsibility. I genuinely believe you deserve a second chance. I'm begging these two [judges] to give her another chance."

But, alas, Cowell's fellow judges cast their votes against Drew and Cowell seemed ready to storm off the set, getting up from his chair with an angry look and taking the stage to console his charge while staring daggers at his fellow panelists and angrily ignoring host Steve Jones' requests for comment.
