Usher Gets 'Emotional' On David Guetta's 'Without You'

DJ/producer calls their collabo the 'biggest record' on his just-released Nothing but the Beat.

David Guetta recently told MTV News that the Usher collabo "Without You" is the "biggest record" on his just-released Nothing but the Beat.

It's a rather bold statement, considering his latest album also features Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, will.i.am, Akon, Timbaland, Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Hudson, just to name a few. But Guetta has a soft spot for the cinematic team-up with Ush, which he says is equal parts sentimental and hands-in-the-air euphoric.

"It's just totally emotional," Guetta said. "Some of the record is a proper ballad, and then it goes to that crazy dance beat. It's perfect for him, because he's famous for his ballads. And he's also now famous for those big club records that he comes with. He's an amazing dancer, so I felt like he was the artist that I needed."

Usher and Guetta first previewed the song in Ibiza, Spain, earlier this summer, with the crowd demanding an encore performance of the sure-to-be-hit song.

"It was amazing," Guetta gushed. "We were not supposed to do this. I always do these kinds of stupid things, playing records when I'm not supposed to play them. And Usher was so excited for this time to be in Ibiza performing in front of those people. He called me onstage and said, 'Come on. Let's do it.' So we did it, and, yeah, they loved it. We had to do it again! They asked for one more."

For some, the combination of Usher and Guetta might seem out of left field. While the DJ/producer works with a variety of artists, he has a pretty tight-knit musical family — but it may come as a surprise that Guetta has known Usher the longest.

"I actually speak very often about how thankful I am to will.i.am because he called me to produce 'I Gotta Feeling'; Akon, when we started to work together, because I wasn't famous in America; Kelly Rowland and all those guys that came to me when I was not known yet," Guetta said. "But I have to say that the very first time when someone big from America asked me if I want to work with him, it was Usher. Like, a really long time ago, but we never had the time to do it. So I was so happy to be finally in the studio with him, because he spotted me when I was really not famous yet."

Usher and Guetta already shot the video for "Without You" in Ibiza. The song will follow up Guetta's current single, "Little Bad Girl," which features Ludacris and Taio Cruz.

'Glee' Season Finale Exclusive: Listen To 'Yeah!' Here

An a cappella girl group covers Usher's hit for Nationals in next week's episode.

During this week's episode of "Glee", the gang from New Directions took a big risk when they decided they would compete in Nationals by singing their own original songs. Well, the stakes just got a little higher.

MTV News has an exclusive first listen to one of the rival groups who will go up against the McKinley High glee club in New York City during next Tuesday's (May 24) big season two finale. In the upcoming episode, an all-female a cappella group sings Usher's 2004 club and radio smash "Yeah!," which may have the Nationals judges saying just that.

Singers replace synthesizers for the four-note melody that repeats throughout the song, and lead vocalists RaVaughn Brown and Missi Hale match the high energy that Usher, Lil Jon and Ludacris brought to the track.

Granted, a few things have been tweaked in the version for the tween-friendly show, including the length (the original is over four minutes long, while the "Glee" version comes in at three and a half minutes) and the tune's instructions to "Take that and rewind it back ... got the rhythm make ya booty go."

Also, instead of Ludacris' verse, "We want a lady in the street/ And a freak in the bed," one girl sings, "You know you want a kiss on the lips, old red." The line, "Ludacris fill cups like double D's" has also been cut from the song.

But, it's not all PG. At one point in the girls' rendition of the track, they page homage to Lil Jon's crunk hit "Get Low," singing, "From the windows to the walls" and even Mystikal's booty-happy single "Shake Ya Ass," when they urge, "Show me whatcha' workin' with."

At the 2005 Grammy Awards, the power trio of Usher, Lil Jon and Ludacris won the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Yeah!" But, will the song bring the same sort of fortune to this girl group at Nationals? Or will the glory all belong to New Directions this time? Gleeks will still have to wait a few more days to find out.

The "Glee" season finale airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. on Fox, while "Glee": The Music, Volume 6, including the three new original songs "Light Up the World," "Pretending" and "As Long as You're There," will be available on Monday.

What do you think of this a cappella group's version of "Yeah!"? Let us know in the comments section below!

'Avengers' Trailer: 'Walking Dead' Creator Weighs In

Robert Kirkman tells MTV News, 'I don't know how this movie doesn't make 10 trillion dollars.'

Two days have passed since the first trailer for "Marvel's The Avengers" burst its way online, and we still can't get enough. From our own analysis of the trailer to commentary from assorted movie and comic book experts, we here at MTV News remain insatiable in our appetite for all things "Avengers."

It's a good thing we're not alone. Writer Robert Kirkman, creator of the "Walking Dead" comic books and executive producer of the AMC television series, is just as enamored with Earth's Mightiest Heroes as we are — though he does have a few bones to pick with the first trailer.

Kirkman, who is celebrating both the arrival of his first "Walking Dead" prose novel and the return of the television series this week, sat down with MTV News to take a big bloody bite out of the "Avengers" trailer. See what he had to say in our video, and read on for more of his thoughts.

Loki's Arrival
Tom Hiddleston returns to the Marvel Universe as the trickster god Loki, this time terrorizing not just Thor, but his brother's new earthly companions as well. But there's something about his arrival in this first trailer that Kirkman thinks is a little bit off.

"Loki's hanging out in [some kind of alien chamber], and I don't know ... there are guys showing up, and he's in this thing that's not quite a prison cell, but he's not in Asgard," the writer said. "He's standing there, but he's not really doing anything. Then these guys show up, and he's like, 'I'm going to stab you!' And didn't these guys know he was going to stab them? I don't know!"

Getting Ready
As the threat facing Earth grows increasingly apparent, Agent Coulson asks his supervisor, Nick Fury, what they need to do next. "We get ready," is Fury's stoic reply — a reply that doesn't sit right with Kirkman.

"Look, I'm very excited about this movie, and I think this trailer is very good, but is there not a better line than, 'We get ready'?" he said. "Like, 'What do we do now?' 'Well, we get ready! We're going to put our shoes on and go do some stuff!' I don't get that. I'm sorry. I'm sure it's going to be a fantastic movie, but I wish there had been a better line there, like, 'We're going to get these mother----ing superheroes off of this mother----ing planet.' I don't know. That would have been better ... probably not appropriate, though!"

Widow's Pose
Scarlett Johansson's infamous pose in front of a massive explosion has had fans scratching their heads for some weeks now, and the "Avengers" trailer did little to explain her calm demeanor in the thick of the action. Kirkman, also confused, doesn't seem to mind the shot: "There's a thing exploding behind her, so clearly she's in a fight or something, but she's just standing there looking pretty — which is great!"

Iron Man Sparkles in the Sunlight
Even though most of the Avengers have had their chance to shine in their very own movies, there's little debate that Iron Man remains the feather in Marvel Studios' cap. Ol' Shellhead is featured prominently throughout the "Avengers" trailer, often seen blasting off over the iconic New York City skyline. Kirkman was more than pleased to see the wealth of Iron Man action, so much so that he feels the red-and-gold hero could be put to good use in other movies.

"I think you could put Iron Man in almost any movie, and I would go see it," he said with a laugh. "Like, the new 'Twilight' movie. I'm not really into that stuff, but if you put Iron Man flying in the new 'Twilight' movie, I'm totally going to go see that movie!"

Stark's Facial Hair
Still, if there's one critique Kirkman has for Tony Stark, it's the billionaire industrialist's goatee. The eternally bearded Kirkman knows a thing or two about facial hair, and he simply does not approve of Stark's look.

"If you look at the way that goatee is designed, people are going to get that tattooed on their backs at some point," he predicted. "It looks like some kind of weird tribal spaceship design or something. It irks me."

Rocket Launched
Already sold on the "Avengers" trailer, Kirkman's enthusiasm for the superhero flick only grew at the sight of Nick Fury wielding a rocket launcher. Easily one of the standout scenes of the trailer, Fury's explosive appearance nevertheless struck Kirkman as a bit unnecessary — and a lot awesome.

"You don't need to have Samuel L. Jackson shooting a rocket launcher," he reasoned. "That's not necessary. This already looks like a good movie, and I'm probably going to see it anyway. But at the point that Samuel L. Jackson shoots a rocket launcher, I think to myself, 'I'm probably going to see this movie twice.' "

Hulked Out
Another immediate selling point for Kirkman? The trailer's final shot, which gives us our first look at Mark Ruffalo's Jade Giant.

"'Oh, by the way, the Incredible Hulk is also in this movie.' Which, to me, is ridiculous," Kirkman said, laughing. "How much money do you want to spend on this movie? You got us! To add the Hulk on top of that, I don't know how this movie doesn't make 10 trillion dollars. I think James Cameron's going to have a hard time topping this one's box office when he comes back to do his next movie."

Justin Bieber Holiday LP Inspired By 'Christmas Cookies'

Under the Mistletoe is due November 1; the 'Mistletoe' video premieres tonight at 7:54 p.m. ET/PT on MTV!
By James Montgomery

Justin Bieber is about to share his top-secret approach to writing his upcoming holiday album, Under the Mistletoe, with MTV News, but first, there's something he'd like to clear up:

"People get confused: My song is 'Mistletoe,' my album is Under the Mistletoe, so don't get it confused," he explained. "Don't get it twisted."

So now you know. And of course, that "Mistletoe" video will premiere tonight at 7:54 p.m. ET/PT on MTV — with a special live stream to follow on MTV.com — giving his fans the first taste of what they can expect on Under the Mistletoe, which is due November 1. It's a collection of brand-new Bieber songs and his renditions of holiday standards, one he hopes will not only become a classic in its own right, but will tide the True Beliebers over until he releases the proper follow-up to his smash My World 2.0 album.

"I was going to put out my album soon anyways, and I was thinking, 'It's near Christmastime. If I'm going to release an album near Christmas, I figure maybe I'd just do a Christmas album,' " he said. "The fans get more music, and everyone's happy.

"I just picked my favorite Christmas songs. I picked 'Silent Night,' I picked 'Santa [Claus Is] Coming to Town,' because everyone loves those songs. Those are classics. They get people excited for Christmas," he continued. "And then, for songs that we wrote, we wanted to make enough new songs for people to hear new music and not just hear some classics. There's a lot of new stuff on there."

Oh, and as far as that secret songwriting approach, well, it turns out that in order to pen holiday tunes, Bieber forced himself to get in the Christmas spirit — even if he was working on most of the songs in August and September. And how did he do that? He turned to Christmas cookies, of course.

"It's different, because you've gotta think Christmastime. You've gotta think, 'What's at Christmas? Mistletoe, reindeer, Santa, all these things.' And especially when it's not Christmastime, it's hard to really get your mind around it," he said. "But once you get into it, like, I was really thinking it was Christmastime when I was writing this album. ... We had Christmas cookies [in the studio]."

Catch the premiere of Justin Bieber's "Mistletoe" video tonight at 7:54 p.m. on MTV, with a full interview to follow on MTV.com!

Heidi Klum: August 2011 issue of Glamour

Heidi Klum

She?s less than two years away from being over the hill, but Heidi Klum is not letting that stop her from oozing sexiness. The Victoria?s Secret bombshell shows off her slim figure in nothing but a pair of J Brand jeans, a floppy hat and Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses in the August 2011 issue of Glamour. Opening up to the magazine about her healthy sex life with husband Seal, Heidi explained how the couple keeps things hot in the bedroom. She revealed, "There's nothing wrong with a nice garter belt," she tells the mag. "I'm not saying you have to put up a pole in your bedroom and start swinging off the rafters. But I love that sometimes! My husband and I just had a 'sexy week' in London. I'd put on a super-short skirt with a garter belt on underneath so that when I'd sit, he could see it. It's fun to sauce it up a little bit." [gallery=759]
