Kate Gosselin Freaks Out Over a Slice of Pizza

Kate Gosselin Freaks Out Over a Slice of Pizza

Kate Gosselin has been known to be a little -- ahem -- high-strung. Lately, the single mom of eight says she's been "freaking out" (somewhat understandably) about losing her main source of income, the TLC show Kate Plus 8. Also, she's been freaking out about pizza.

Yes, pizza. On the most recent episode of her now-canceled reality show, Gosselin lost it on her poor babysitter Ashley over a slice -- and earned herself a well-deserved place on Anderson Cooper's "Ridiculist." Watch the video below!

So, quick recap: On an RV trip with Kate and the eight children (that's one of the circles of hell, right?), babysitter Ashley gives the kids a slice of pizza that was "reserved" for bodyguard Steve, Kate flips out, Ashley has little 10-year-old Mady hand him the slice without first wrapping it in foil, germaphobic Kate continues to flip out, Ashley quits. As Coop points out in his Ridiculist segment, tensions run high on any family camping trip -- but this is a little insane. We'd imagine that Kate, now that her camping ordeal is over, watched this episode and cringed just like everybody else, right?

Wrong! Gosselin was live-blogging the episode on her Twitter, and had no tolerance for any criticism of her behavior.

"Calm down," Kate tweeted to her incredulous followers. "If u can't see the stress&want to pin in ALL on ME, turn the channel. This was edited to show ALL drama all the time.Settle down!"

When one fan asked, "You honestly don't see anything wrong with your behavior?," Gosselin replied, "Nope. All of our faults." And when another suggested that Kate was "lucky no one tossed you in the canyon," she answered, "Seriously? Just me? Pathetic." (Guess she would have felt better if they'd wanted to throw the kids in too?)

And while we're on the subject of stressed-out Kate, she's the subject of a new People cover story about her family's departure from reality TV after six years. In a nutshell, she is not OK.

"I'm freaking out. Big time," she tells the magazine. "I've never quit a job in my life without having something else lined up. I don't know what's next."

The kids, says Gosselin, weren't prepared to quit the show, either -- which is not surprising, considering that life on camera is pretty much the only thing they've ever known. What is surprising is that Kate doesn't seem to have had a backup plan. Still, Gosselin has pledged to "work my fingers to the bone to make sure that (the kids) can stay here and go to their school." We have no idea where she'll work -- but we hope for everyone's sake that it's not a pizza parlor.

Michael Jackson Doctor's Trial Delayed

Judge pushes start of Conrad Murray's trial back to May.
By Gil Kaufman

LOS ANGELES — Though Conrad Murray's lawyers had been pressing for a speedy trial, a judge in the involuntary manslaughter case against Michael Jackson's doctor ruled on Wednesday to delay opening statements in the proceedings until May.

The Associated Press reported that Murray's attorneys consented to the postponement after they discussed the matter with prosecutors and both agreed they could be ready for trial by May 9.

According to a transcript from the closed-door session, though opening statements will not begin for several months, Murray told Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor that he did not want to forfeit his right to a quick trial, but agreed to the delay if screening of prospective jurors begins as scheduled on March 24.

"It is only acceptable to me if this is not strung along over a long period of time," Murray told the justice. "I don't want to lose my constitutional right to speedy trial." Murray — who has pleaded not guilty to the charges — reportedly has been in favor of having the proceedings begin as soon as possible because he is facing financial troubles, but he said he understands that the delay is necessary to allow both sides to prepare for the trial.

Pastor consented because he said he didn't want to lose a jury pool, and believed a month-long delay might let potential jurors shuffle their schedules for the case, which could take up to two months to decide. The judge has reportedly clashed with Murray's defense team in recent weeks, pressing them for answers about why they had not turned over more witness notes and other potential evidence to prosecutors in the run-up to the trial.

Cardiologist Murray was hired to be Jackson's personal physician while the King of Pop prepared for his planned 50-date comeback series of shows at London's O2 arena in the summer of 2009. The doctor told police that he provided the then-50-year-old Jackson with sedatives and the surgical anesthetic propofol in order to combat the singer's chronic insomnia. He said he did so on the morning of June 25, 2009, when Jackson died of what a coroner deemed acute propofol poisoning.

Murray's lawyers reportedly plan to argue that Jackson was already in weak health before he died, that it's unfair to blame propofol for his passing and that, if the anesthetic was to blame, the pop superstar may have given himself the fatal dose by drinking the drug in a panic.

A status hearing in the case has been set for this Wednesday.

'Moneyball' Is All About 'Underdogs,' Jonah Hill Says

'If you're not a baseball fan, it doesn't mean you're not going to love the movie,' he tells MTV News in our Fall Movie Preview.
By Kara Warner

In addition to his trimmed-down figure, Jonah Hill fans will see a new side of the "Superbad" and "Get Him to the Greek" actor come September 23, when "Moneyball" drops into theaters: his dramatic acting chops.

The film is inspired by Michael Lewis' 2003 best-seller of the same name, which revolved around Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane and how he recruited undervalued yet extremely talented baseball players to build successful teams. In the film, Hill plays Peter Brand, a statistician who helps Beane (Brad Pitt) select players based on in-depth analysis of complex baseball statistics.

Click for exclusive photos from Fall's biggest flicks.

When MTV News caught up with Hill recently, he was excited to talk about his dramatic work and emphasized the fact that the film is more about life than baseball.

MTV: Did you read the book before you started the film?

Jonah Hill: I had just been told that [director] Bennett [Miller] wanted to meet me and I should read the book "Moneyball" in preparation, and so I did, and I really, really loved it.

MTV: Were you a baseball fan beforehand? And how did your appreciation for the game evolve over the course of working on the film?

Hill: I grew up with baseball and really respect and appreciate the game, but in the past, since I was probably 12 or 13, I haven't followed closely. So I wouldn't say I was an avid fan, but I grew up being a Dodgers fan. But if you're not a baseball fan, it doesn't mean you're not going to love the movie. We used baseball as such a metaphor for life. The movie is about these guys trying to create a baseball team with no money, but it's really about choices and being an underdog, so I really can start to relate the game to the people playing it and seeing them as people and wondering about them, and I couldn't help but start wondering about all the players as people and do their stats represent them and their value — that's a lot of what the movie's about.

MTV: How is the film not just a sports movie?

Hill: I hesitate to even call it a sports movie, because if you love baseball, you're going to love it obviously that much more, but for people that I know that have seen it that don't know the first thing about baseball, [they] love it because it's a movie about underdogs. It's really about being undervalued and proving your worth and value and the decisions you make in life.

MTV: Everyone raves about Aaron Sorkin's scripts and dialogue. What was your impression of the script? How does it rank versus some of the others you've seen?

Hill: The script was written by Aaron Sorkin and Steve Zaillian. ... I don't think there's any debate they are the two of the most successful and respected screenwriters in Hollywood, so between them and Scott Rudin and Mike De Luca, our producers, and Bennett Miller and Michael Lewis, who wrote the book, and Brad and Philip [Seymour] Hoffman and Robin Wright, I can say it was pretty crazy to be second lead in this movie. It was a laundry list of people I admired and respected, and it kinda didn't seem real for the first few weeks I got the part.

MTV: Was there a learning curve for you? Did you feel like more of a student on this production?

Hill: I think I always feel like a student. I always work with people I admire or else I don't go to work. To me, it's about learning from people. The best advice I ever got was "Shut up and listen." ... This was obviously the most different. Drama, I had only done one other one, this movie "Cyrus," and for me, those were two experiences, because I had done so many comedies, where I learned something totally different.

MTV: What was your experience like with Brad Pitt, as far as the actor and the person?

Hill: He's great at both. I think he and I are really close in the movie. The movie is really the two of us playing off of each other a majority of the time, so if that chemistry wasn't there between us, I think the movie would have completely failed. So I think we both knew that going in, and I think we both happened to like each other a lot. We definitely played some pranks on each other. That part of [Brad Pitt] lore is true, that he likes to do that. We played some really funny pranks — his a lot funnier than mine — and we became cool. He's a really admirable dude, and I think he has inspired me in a lot of ways, both creatively and personally. If you look at his filmography, his choices are so diverse and cool and eclectic that it's something I really just took away. He was really cool about sharing his history with me and really pushing me in a great way to make interesting choices.

MTV: Can you give me a couple of those pranks?

Hill: There were some golf-cart wars. We had these golf carts, and we would race them all the time to set and crash into each other. And he started messing with mine and eventually turned mine into a full-fledged Wham! mobile — the band Wham! — where eventually there was a bigger-than-life-sized portrait of myself as a member of Wham! next to George Michael on the front of it. It was bright pink, and eventually, by the end, if you turned on my golf cart, it blasted "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and could not be turned off unless the engine was turned off. Sometimes I feel like he has a team of scientists working on f---ing with me.

MTV: So what was your best retaliation you think?

Hill: I got him with a prank to his car that I'm not going to reveal yet. It's a secret.

Wiz Khalifa Cleared Of Felony Marijuana Charges

North Carolina district attorney drops trafficking charge against 'Black and Yellow' MC.

Wiz Khalifa's felony marijuana charges have gone up in smoke.

On Wednesday, Pitt County (North Carolina) District Attorney Clark Everett dropped a felony drug trafficking count against the rapper, who was arrested on November 8 following a show on the campus of East Carolina University after police found marijuana on his tour bus. Khalifa and nine other men were subsequently charged with trafficking, maintaining a vehicle for sale or storage of marijuana and a misdemeanor offense of possession of drug paraphernalia.

But according to Everett, the trafficking charge was in error, because the amount of marijuana seized on the bus — slightly more than 2 ounces, according to Greenville, North Carolina's The Daily Reflector — did not exceed the 10-pound threshold required to make the count stick.

Everett told the Reflector that all additional charges against Khalifa and six others with him were dismissed when three of the men admitted the marijuana was theirs and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession during an August 11 hearing. Each of the three paid a $1,000 fine and court costs.

In the days following his arrest, Keith Stroup, legal counsel for the marijuana-advocacy group NORML, predicted to MTV News that it was likely Khalifa's attorney would arrange for such a plea deal, in which the rapper, or one of the other men arrested, would agree to possession of marijuana for personal use.

At the time of his arrest, Khalifa paid a substantial fee to a bail bondsman to cover a $300,000 bond for himself and the nine other men arrested so they could leave immediately, a tab Everett said was also an error, given the actual nature of the charges.

"The magistrate or someone at that office must have misread the statute. We discovered the error maybe two hours after [Khalifa] paid the bondsman's premium and left," he told the Reflector. "Because of that, it was a high price he paid for bringing the drug onto campus. Had he remained to discover the error, he would not have been bonded so high. Probably $1,000."

A spokesperson for the Pitt County District Attorney's Office did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the matter by press time.

'Apollo 18': The Reviews Are In!

Critics say the 'found-footage' film requires a suspension of disbelief to truly work.
By Terri Schwartz

"Apollo 18"
Photo: Dimension Films

"Apollo 18" is not a documentary — NASA made a point of clearing that up — but that doesn't mean that a certain suspension of disbelief won't make the movie a terrifying experience.

The flick is just the latest to cash in on the found-footage premise made popular in 1999's "The Blair Witch Project," but it is the first to bring that filmmaking style to outer space. Some critics thought the premise worked in its new location, while others felt the film lost its momentum in the second hour.

The consensus is that it either will work for you or it won't; which way will you sway? Check out what the critics have to say and make your decision in theaters this weekend.

The Premise
"These days, none but the most naive, gullible and uninformed of moviegoers would ever fall for the déclassé claim that a horror film purporting to consist of found footage is, in fact, real. 1999's 'The Blair Witch Project' was one thing, since it started the trend, but that was 12 years ago and most viewers are more savvy now to the flimsy trickster ways of overzealous studios and marketing execs. The latest entry into the genre, 'Apollo 18,' is clearly fictional despite claims to the contrary, but it doesn't matter. A willing audience member's suspension of disbelief can go a long way in creating the necessary sense of reality as long as the performances are natural and the filmmaking itself free of obvious artifice." — Dustin Putman, DustinPutman.com

The Presentation
"It's easy to dismiss a bad feature film as 'something that'd play better as a short,' but such is most certainly the case where 'Apollo 18' is concerned. If it clocked in at around thirty minutes, it would still have the novelty of its premise and presentation, but it'd also be wonderfully bereft of all the dead air, aimless wandering, and redundant dialogue that all but ruin a potentially fun movie. Not helping is the fact that the 'character development' is clumsy at best and that much of the narrative is just plain, old worthless wheel-spinning. Lifelong apologist for the oft-lamented 'sci-fi horror' genre I may be, but there's virtually nothing of value to be found in 'Apollo 18.' I have no problem with gimmick movies, but the story and its presentation should always be more important than the gimmick itself. Or at least more interesting." — Scott Weinberg, FearNet

The Scares
"The best horror films are movies that play on our real fears, that speak to something universally understood or shared, and that create a situation we can imagine ourselves in. The notion of being trapped on the moon could work if they really wanted to play on the notions of isolation and dependence on technology and the onset of madness in a closed space. There are definitely fears that this film could have cranked up to have an effect, but instead, there is this cheap, false tension that all comes down to cheap jumps and moon rocks with legs." — Drew McWeeny, HitFix

The Subtext
"In fact, this is what makes 'Apollo 18' special; it is perhaps the first narrative film to address the popularity of 9/11 conspiracy documentaries. Though it never touches on the modern world, the 'lunartruth.org' title card, the large scale conspiracy elements, the closing frames of the astronauts official cause of death and the 'edited from stolen footage' conceit all heavily recall 'Loose Change,' the Abu Graib photos, Saddam's hanging video and even at hint of the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment. While most viewers will never pick up on this subtext, it will play just below the consciousness of many, adding depth and a creeping sense of malaise. Even as someone who is 100% not a 'truther' it added an extra element that I responded to emotionally." — Hunter Daniels, Collider

The Final Word
" 'Apollo 18' is innovative, intense and will make you scream like a little girl. It's not a great film by any means but it's all about the atmosphere and the world that is created by Director Gonzalo López-Gallego (his first major motion picture). Even though I knew going in that the film was fake, I still found myself suspending my disbelief. Hats off to the amazing film makers for making me feel like I was on the moon with these actors. I mean seriously, the film looked just like found footage from the 1970's. The post-production on this project must have been insane, adding in all the scratch marks, etc. The tight spaces these actors had to film in were absolutely insane. What the film does really well is use a slow-build effect for the scares which became a very important factor in keeping you entertained for ninety minutes." — Kevin McCarthy, BDKReviews

Also in magazines......

Rihanna was named the "Sexiest Woman Alive" by "ESQUIRE" Magazine recently and they've released a "sexy" video that proves why she deserves the title.

For whatever reason, Esquire yanked these images and apparently it was all a misunderstanding.  Rihanna wasn't named "Sexiest Woman Alive," but, instead, actress Katrina Bowden was.  No word on if Rih will still be inlcuded in the issue in some way though.

In the video above, Rihanna appears to be topless and smears dirt all over her body while gazing at the camera. Sexy much? Some fans seem to think so.

By the way, the spunky brunette announced that she won't rerelease LOUD as originally planned, but will go into the studio and make some new music.

She tweeted:

"I tht abt a RihRelease, but LOUD is its own body of work! Plus u guys work so F?CKIN hard that u deserve to act brand new!!!"
