Mel Gibson: Dining with Royalty

Fresh off of his big promotional appearance at Cannes, Mel Gibson made his way to spend time with royalty in Monaco on Thursday (May 19).

The recently scandal-plagued actor was photographed as he hopped aboard a port-set vessel to dine on a surely exquisite lunch with the Prince Albert II.

Having spent time in Cannes for the premiere of his upcoming film "The Beaver," Mel recently chatted about returning to his career after a lengthy break.

He told, "I got to a place where I thought, you know, I don't even know if I want to do this, and walked away for awhile. I think I just walked away for about eight years. Cause you can keep grinding on the same bicycle and the chain starts to wear out."

Adding that the break was helpful in terms of rejuvenation, Gibson said, "So when you come back to it, it's kind of, it's interesting again. Not only because you've been absent from it for awhile, but because a lot of the factors around, including yourself have gone through some change."

Lady Gaga Says Born This Way Is 'My Answer To Many Questions'

Gaga dishes about her album in a lengthy interview in the Metro newspaper.

In one week, Lady Gaga finally releases Born This Way, which she once touted as "the greatest album of this decade." In a new interview with the Metro newspaper, Lady Gaga opens up a bit more about what this album means.

"Born This Way is my answer to many questions over the years: Who are you? What are you about? ... The most paramount theme on the record is me struggling to understand how I can exist as myself as someone who lives halfway between fantasy and reality all the time," she explained in the lengthy chat.

When asked if she uses her personality to market her music, she said, "It's kind of like saying, 'Are you honest? Do you have integrity? Are you full of sh--?' But listen, my social involvement for equality and gay rights, as well as my music, is completely genuine. But I don't think I ever want everyone to ever know fully who or what I am."

Gaga further discussed her personal goals and motivations. "Part of what I'm doing is asking you to look inside yourself, to ask yourself questions," she maintained. "I have a close relationship with my family. I'm very close with my fans and I'm in tune with what they want. And I'm in tune with myself, too. At the end of the day, I have to look myself in the mirror and I'm proud of everything I stand for. I have no reason to do or say anything unless it comes from my soul. I work very hard. I don't party very much. You don't see me falling out of nightclubs and buying Range Rovers. Social justice and music are the two most paramount things in my life and I can't put it more plainly."

In other Gaga news, Metro.co.uk will stream all 14 songs on Born This Way starting on Wednesday in anticipation of the album's official release next week. Meanwhile, Gaga visited the London offices of Metro on Monday, where she served as guest editor of the newspaper.

"Dear monsters, let your identity be your religion," wrote Gaga. "Little monsters are not a fan base. They are a culture that exists entirely outside of pop music. They are their own religion. They are a race within the race of humanity."

Beyoncé dropped the official version of her new single "Run the World (Girls)" on Thursday morning (April 21). The track is just under four minutes of sassy, girl-power lyrics paired with marching-band beats and club appeal.

The song is loud and proud in its relentless message: Beyoncé and girls everywhere are in charge now. B is clearly rallying the troops to her side in this first single off her forthcoming summer album release.

"Girls, we run this motha," she announces at the song's opening. Soon, the beat takes off and looped Auto-Tuned vocals complement Beyoncé's feel-good call and response of "Who run the world? Girls."

The verses that follow sound like a warning to any of the haters. "Some of them men think they freak this like we do/ But no they don't/ Make your checks come at they neck/ Disrespect us, no they won't/ This goes out to all my girls that's in the club rocking the latest/ Who will buy it for themselves and get more money later," Beyoncé sings in a choppy, emphatic style.

"I think I need a barber/ None of these ho's can fight me/ I'm so good with this/ I remind you I'm so 'hood with this," she goes on, before briefly transitioning to smoother, more persuasive, but still boastful vocals.

The song is a cleaned-up version of the demo that leaked earlier this week. It was produced by Switch, Beyoncé and Shea Taylor. Beyoncé also co-wrote the track with The-Dream.

Though there's still no word on when the video might drop, its director, Francis Lawrence, has made it clear that the video (which was teased on Wednesday) will be epic. "It'll be big, it'll probably be one of the bigger Beyoncé music videos ever done," he explained. "And, I can say that I think the song is unbelievable."

Beyonce Reveals 4 Album Art, Release Date

Who says Beyoncé retired Sasha Fierce? On Wednesday night, the music video for her new girl-power anthem, "Run the World (Girls)," premiered on "American Idol," and now Beyoncé is looking just as sexy and empowered on the just-unveiled cover art for her upcoming album, 4.

In the photo, which was posted on Beyoncé's website, the singer sports only a fur vest, thick gold cuffs and smoky eye makeup as she looks off into the distance. The album will be released on June 28. According to a press release, Beyoncé recorded the LP over the span of a year, beginning the project in spring 2010 and wrapping up in the spring of this year.

"I recorded more than 60 songs; everything I ever wanted to try, I just did it," she recently told us about the album. "I started off being inspired by [Afrobeat music pioneer] Fela Kuti. I actually worked with the band from 'Fela!' [the hit Broadway musical based on Kuti's life] for a couple of days, just to get the feel for the soul and heart of his music; it's so sexy and has a great groove you get lost in. I loved his drums, all the horns, how everything was on the one. What I learned most from Fela was artistic freedom: He just felt the spirit."

Fela wasn't the only artist that influenced the music on 4, though. "I also found a lot of inspiration in '90s R&B, Earth, Wind & Fire, DeBarge, Lionel Richie, Teena Marie," Beyoncé said. "I listened to a lot of Jackson 5 and New Edition, but also Adele, Florence and the Machine and Prince. Add in my hip-hop influences, and you can hear how broad it is. I also gave myself more freedom to really belt out some songs, and bring soul singing back. I used a lot of the brassiness and grittiness in my voice that people hear in my live performances, but not necessarily on my records."

Kate Hudson: I Love Pregnancy but It Can Be Brutal

Kate Hudson: I Love Pregnancy but It Can Be Brutal

While other celebrities brag about how their bodies bounced back from pregnancy, Kate Hudson admits that it wasn't so easy for her. Hudson, now pregnant with her second child, tells Marie Claire that she struggled to deal with her 70-pound weight gain the first time around.

"It's an emotional roller coaster, having to lose weight," says Hudson, who dropped the pounds by doing three hours of grueling cardio for three months after her first child was born.

Hudson announced in April that she's engaged to her "amazing" baby's father, Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy. (She had her first son Ryder, 7, with ex-husband Chris Robinson of the band The Black Crowes.)

"I gained so much -- I was 185 pounds at the end," she admits. "You actually experience how much energy is stored in that and how much emotion you actually hold in that mass. It is emotional, no matter how determined you are. It takes work to bounce back so quickly."

Hudson is much more conscious of her eating habits during her second pregnancy; her cravings are for healthier food, and she'd gained just eleven pounds when she did the interview (Hudson was six months pregnant at the time). Nevertheless, she says that each pregnancy has its own challenges -- and her first trimester this time around was "brutal."

"I was so sick the first trimester that every time I tried to read, I couldn't concentrate," says Hudson. "So I started brainlessly watching TV in the fetal position on my couch. It was brutal. I only just started getting a bigger appetite."

Hudson's Something Borrowed costar, Ginnifer Goodwin -- who was interviewed along with Hudson for the Marie Claire story -- has had her own struggles with weight loss. In January, Goodwin revealed to Health magazine that she has been a member of Weight Watchers for 23 years.

"Most of the people I know are on the program for health reasons," Goodwin says. "And yes, some of them are slim women who want to stay slim." She also admits that if she didn't live in Hollywood, she wouldn't be as svelte as she is: "I am genetically predisposed to be a bigger girl than I am. I have very real hips and a Southern woman's ass."

Goodwin -- who says "I've never had body issues, and I've never had an eating disorder" -- admits that she only weighs 10 pounds more than she did when she was 9 years old.

As far as her baby plans go, Goodwin -- who recently got engaged to actor Joey Kern -- says she can't wait to follow in Hudson's famous-mama footsteps. "I'm so ready. I want a life full of little Joeys," she says. "I'm only holding off until after my wedding for vanity purposes. I just want to be able to fit into whatever dress I pick out."
