Kardashian Family Hits the Red Carpet for Redbook

With the entire group of gals teaming up for a festive affair, the Kardashian/Jenner ladies were busy celebrating Redbook's first-ever family issue dedicated to their sizable E! reality clan in West Hollywood, CA on Monday night (April 11).

The soiree was held at the posh Sunset Tower hotel, with Kim, Kourtney and Khloe doting on little Mason while joined by Kris, Kylie and Kendall Jenner.

As for the cover issue, the Kardashian/Jenner family is featured in Redbook's May 2011 offering - which is set to hit newsstands on Tuesday, April 12th.

In the mag's interview, the ladies talk about a number of subjects, with Kris saying of the hard-working bunch: "It's annoying when I hear, 'What do your girls do?' Well, first of all, all of my daughters have jobs."

She adds, "They are fashion stylists and designers; they own a chain of stores. They had the stores before they had the show. And my kids worked from the time they were 13 years old. So to me, that's a huge misconception ? that the girls don't work. They work 25 hours a day. And that they don't have any talent? They might not be singers or dancers, but they certainly know how to produce a television show. Whether you want to call it talent or not, they have multiple shows on the air. [I want to say,] How many shows do you have?"

Be sure to check out the Kardashian/Jenner family issue with a behind the scenes look at the shoot below!

Jennifer Lawrence Addresses 'Hunger Games' Backlash

'I'm a massive fan too, so I get it,' she tells Teen Vogue of response to her casting.

When news broke that Jennifer Lawrence had nabbed the coveted lead role in "Hunger Games," some fans of the book series thought the Oscar nominee might not be the right choice to play Katniss Everdeen.

No one was more aware of the uncertainty than Lawrence herself. "The cool thing about Katniss is that every fan has such a personal relationship with her, and they understand and know her in a singular way," she told Teen Vogue. "I'm a massive fan too, so I get it."

The casting of Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth as her two love interests was met with equal doubt from the "Hunger Games" fans. But the film's director, Gary Ross, is standing by his choice to have Lawrence play the film's heroine. It was "the easiest casting decision I've ever made in my life," he said in the issue. "I never thought we'd find somebody this perfect for the role."

The movie is based on the beloved Suzanne Collins novels, and the books' fanbase is just as fervent as "Twilight" supporters. The bottom line for Lawrence is that she feels lucky to have been plucked from the laundry list of contenders for the role.

"She's incredibly powerful, brave and tough — and yet she has a tenderness and complexity," Lawrence said of the character. "It was very humbling hearing that Suzanne and Gary feel that I embody those traits."

The film is a dark look at an apocalyptic society where children are forced to fight to the death. Lawrence, who has starred in equally dark flicks like "Winter's Bone," joked, "I want people to say, 'I'm in a really bad mood, let's go see a Jennifer Lawrence movie.' "

Check out everything we've got on "Hunger Games."

Lady Gaga's 'Judas' Single To Drop On April 19

Mother Monster reveals the song's release date in new online video post.

The opening minute or so of the 41st installment of Lady Gaga's Gagavision, the first edition of the pop superstar's video blog after a lengthy hiatus, shows her getting her makeup applied with a searing techno song playing as the soundtrack. As the close-up footage of Gaga's face gets rolling, words appear on the screen announcing, "Music from Born This Way 5-23-11."

But it's the end of the Gagavision episode that likely will excite the singer's fans the most, as it includes an announcement all of her Little Monsters have been waiting for — the release date for her next single, "Judas." As Gaga is shown dancing in rehearsals for the "Judas" video, which she co-directed with her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, Mother Monster is heard in a voice-over saying, "So that concludes Gagavision Number 41. 'Judas' is coming. Let the cultural baptism begin." A message is then shown that reads, "Judas April 19. If they were not who you were taught they would be, would you still believe?"

The Gagavision installment also gives fans a glimpse at what life is like for Gaga, sometimes in a grainy black-and-white documentary style similar to Madonna's "Truth or Dare." The video is filled with behind-the-scenes footage of Gaga, getting her makeup done, getting styled to do promo ("We should just wear a classic black suit all the time or just nudity," she remarks as she checks herself in the mirror while wearing a partially see-through black outfit) and approaching a protestor at one of her Monster Ball tour stops.

The protestor, who is at the show handing out "Get Out of Hell Free" cards, chides Gaga's because of her "pervert ways." When she lets him know that she believes in God and even went to Catholic school, he says to her, "That's probably most of your problem is you got raised in a screwy religion." Later on we see the singer again in front of a mirror as she comments about the man's seeming intolerance. "It just makes me sad that my fans have to see that," she says.

"Judas" will be the second single off Gaga's Born This Way album, which will be released on May 23. Promotion for the record will include a May 27 appearance on "Good Morning America" that will kick off the show's summer concert series and the May 7 premiere of her highly anticipated HBO special, which was taped at New York's Madison Square Garden in February.

Lady Gaga and her team took the weekend to work on the video for "Judas," the singer's second single off her May release, Born This Way. With little known about the clip other than that it is co-directed by Gaga and her creative director, Laurieann Gibson, Gaga and her cohorts all teased the shoot on Twitter over the weekend.

Early Sunday, Mother Monster herself shared that she's quite proud of the video. She tweeted, "Directing Judas video with my sister @boomkack is the most exciting artistic moment of my career. It's the greatest work we've done. Day 2."

Her faithful stylist, Thierry Mugler creative director Nicola Formichetti, kept fans abreast all weekend, tweeting on Saturday, "Just finished shooting our incredible day 1. We are so blessed."

On Sunday, he shared that the crew has been busy working on the video in Los Angeles, where Gaga recently played some shows on her Monster Ball Tour. "Good mornin' LA! It was magical yesterday. so excited for our day2!!!!!!!!!!@ladygaga @BoomKack @TheValGarland #judas."

Makeup artist Val Garland added, "It's going to be a very GaGalicious day here in LaLa Land .... Remarkably I feel amazing and GaGGing for gorgeousness ....."

By the time Monday morning rolled in, Formichetti let all the little monsters know that the last frame had been shot. "Just finished shooting the most amazing video/movie of all time!! Totally in love with JUDAS baby," he wrote.

Even Gaga's beau, Luc Carl, couldn't contain his excitement about what he describes as "bad ass." "Breaking rules once again," he wrote on Twitter.

For those wanting to know more about all things "Judas," Gaga plans to share more in a video she's posting on Tuesday. "GAGAVISION no.41 coming, at midnight TUES. Filming and editing it myself. Will announce JUDAS release!" she tweeted. "Feels like the first time, monsters."

Stone Temple Pilots Reunited In Hopes Of Opening For Led Zeppelin, Bassist Says

'If time allows, there will definitely be new music,' Robert DeLeo adds of STP's future.
By Chris Harris

There are a number of reasons why Stone Temple Pilots decided to reunite after nearly five years apart — some are obvious, and others, not so much.

Of course, the financial windfall of reviving the grunge stalwarts for an extensive U.S. tour was too good to pass up, and bassist Robert DeLeo readily admits as much. And then there are the fans, the ones who had been with STP since the very beginning as well as those who discovered the band only after it first split back in 2003 and who, woefully, have yet to catch the Pilots live.

On a more personal level, though, Stone Temple Pilots' resurrection was purely selfish, and very much an anticipatory (not to mention optimistic) move on the band's part: If, after the months and months of rumors and denials, there ever is a full-on Led Zeppelin reunion tour, STP wanted to be ready to offer their services as an opening act.

"Believe me, that was one of the reasons," laughed DeLeo. "We thought, 'We should get together now, in case Zeppelin does tour.' I'm serious, man. That would be one hell of a bill: STP and Led Zeppelin. I mean, we could play a doghouse, out in the middle of the ocean, and if I got to play with Zeppelin, that would be a highlight of my life."

Yes, DeLeo — and the rest of the band — had several reservations about raising STP from the dead — a feat DeLeo jokingly referred to as "Mission Impossible." For the band's members, the idea of regrouping was terrifying at first, but with time, the boys settled their differences and tried to think positive.

"For me, it was about putting down some of the things that I was used to getting bitten by," explained the bassist — who, with guitar-playing brother Dean DeLeo, has been collaborating with Peter Frampton on material for his next LP. "After you get bitten, it's hard to go back. I wanted to go into this with an open frame of mind and a positive attitude and just have fun with it. We should have fun with it, which God knows we didn't always have with our career when we were younger. If that's all I can say, and that's what I can get out of this reunion, great.

"I think I speak for all of us when I say there's a lot of unfinished business that we didn't get around to the first go," he continued. "Enough time has gone by, and it feels really good to be back. I don't really want to put too much thought into how it feels — I'm just kind of going with it and keeping a good positive attitude about it. I just needed to get over the things that we all needed to get over, and that's been working so far. If everyone shows up and does this thing, I think it's going to be really amazing."

DeLeo claims that during recent rehearsals, STP were "sounding as good as ever," and he credits sobriety as part of the reason the band's in tip-top shape.

"My brother's going on four years of sobriety," he said. "We have a lot more clarity in the band now, and I think with clarity comes appreciation. I saw that the other night, when we played [a secret gig in Los Angeles]. I saw it in my eyes, and in the eyes of the rest of the band. There's a lot more rock in this band now."

As for an STP record, DeLeo is not 100 percent sure that's going to happen. The goal for STP over the next few weeks, he said, is to reacquaint themselves with their songbook and prepare for their return to the road. Once the band is back in that mindset, the bassist said new STP material is very possible.

"I've always got stuff written, and there's always a long list of songs that are always there — it's a matter of timing," DeLeo said. "If time allows, there will definitely be new music. I think it would be silly not to release new music. I'd like to believe we still have a writing relationship, but the first step is getting reacquainted with what we know."

While STP were on hiatus, frontman Scott Weiland teamed up with Velvet Revolver, and the DeLeo brothers joined forces with Filter's Richard Patrick for Army of Anyone — who are now on hiatus after releasing a poorly received self-titled LP. Does DeLeo foresee an AOA reunion somewhere down the line?

"You never know," he said. "It's just like STP — I didn't know if I was going to return. Whether we get back together and do anything, I think we made a great record, bottom line. That's all that matters to me. If we make another one, I want to make sure it's great, and that applies to STP and anything I do. But I was pretty heartbroken over [the feeble response to AOA's album]."

Usher, Ke$ha And More Help Dance Music Go Pop In 2010

But is it here to stay? Our music-industry experts weigh in.
By Akshay Bhansali

In 2010, pop princesses, R&B icons and chart-dominating newcomers all danced to the same beat. Not only did dance music go pop, but pop music caught the club-music bug.

Between Katy Perry's "Firework," Ke$ha's "We R Who We R," Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)," Enrique Iglesias' "I Like It," Usher's "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and "OMG" and countless other singles, established artists definitely looked to dance beats for surefire hits. And two of this year's biggest success stories in music were Jason Derülo and Taio Cruz; could there be a soul left in this country who hasn't heard "Dynamite" or "In My Head"?

The love went both ways, with dance music's biggest stars finding mainstream success this year. Dance-music maestro deadmau5 took up house-artist duties at this year's VMAs, and Swedish House Mafia and Usher teamed up for a medley of their gems at the American Music Awards.

So how did this happen? We caught up with some music-industry experts to get their takes.

"You definitely saw tempos go up this year," Jon Caramanica of The New York Times told MTV News. "And I think what you had are a lot of producers who are really familiar with nightclub stuff. They are familiar with Europe. Things are happening on a more global scale now."

"I think everything from Europe, and sometimes even Asia, it comes to America, and we just adopt things a little bit slower," said Jared Eng of JustJared.com. "I think it was just a change. People like different types of music at different times. And dance was of this moment."

Noah Callahan of Complex magazine added: "I think 2010 saw the merging of the pop and dance genres. Pop artists realized that there were best practices that could be borrowed from dance music. And, ultimately, [all] pop music that has been made in the past 20 years had ended up being remixed for the club by dance artists. I think they basically just cut out the middleman and went straight there."

Dance music being introduced into the hip-hop and R&B realms was particularly notable this year.

"I think David Guetta kind of at the end of last year and the beginning of this year spearheaded it," said freelance writer Julianne Escobedo Shepherd. "He produced a lot of tracks. I think as trends go, people revile 'unst-unst.' But it's just coming back around. Big-room techno was a way for people to get decadent in a year that no one could get decadent."

"You have someone like will.i.am, who's like, 'Well, I spent all this time in Ibiza, and this is what they are doing,' and he wants to find a way to bring that into his music," Caramanica said of the Black Eyed Peas mastermind. "R&B especially became dance music. And especially with your Jason Derülos, Taio Cruzes. Guys like that would have literally been blocked at the border two years ago. That would not have made it through customs. And now all of a sudden they have #1 songs. I think will.i.am had a lot to do with that last year."

Elliott Wilson of RapRadar.com added: "It's actually even affected hip-hop. I was talking to Q-Tip, and his next record, I feel like that's gonna kind of go in that vein. I know that was also Jay-Z's thought process with Blueprint 3 at first, that he wanted to make a little bit more of a world music [vibe], a little more dancey. I think the kids today want to go to the clubs. They wanna have a good time. They wanna dance. So I think the artists of today are trying to kind of feed that audience."

"I think it's caught on this year because the people who've done it have been successful," offered Clover Hope of Vibe magazine. "Like 'OMG,' with usher, he didn't have success until he made a dance record. He had 'There Goes My Baby' and these really, like, adult-contemporary records that didn't really catch on. And then once you see that everybody is doing it and that people are liking it, they are like, 'OK, let me just try this out.' It's like Auto-Tune. Like, 'Let me see what I sound like on a record by David Guetta.' They end up liking it and doing more of it."

So does the club-music trend have staying power. According to our tastemakers, not so much.

"I do think it's a blip," Caramanica said. "I don't think that's gonna be something that lasts in America. I think this is gonna be a moment we'll all look back on and go, 'Wasn't that weird when Jason Derülo and Taio Cruz had #1 records?"

"At some point, these R&B artists will get kind of sick of it and be like, 'Let me go back to my soul background,' " Hope said. "When you actually have to say something, dance doesn't really lend itself to substance. And I think that R&B artists, they really want to talk about love and in a deep way, and to do that, you need to do, like, a soul or a traditional R&B record. I want to say that it's kind of a fad."

"I think music is very cyclical," Eng offered. "So I think dance music might be here for a little bit, but I'm sure it will phase out at some point."

Wilson called dance music "the sound of today. I think that people want more aggressive, faster beats, and I think that that probably has legs until at least next summer."

Britney Spears' 'Till The World Ends' Video Nods To 'Slave 4 U'

Latest clip reminds us of her 2001 smash -- and it's not the first time the pop superstar has sampled her own video catalog.
By Christina Garibaldi

With Wednesday's release of Britney Spears' new video for "Till the World Ends," the pop diva showed she can dance her way through anything — even an apocalypse.

Now, although "Till the World Ends" takes place in the future, it's hard to watch it without feeling transported to the past. The edgy look, steamy scenes and pulsating dance moves take us back to Spears' 2001 hit "Slave 4 U." Some of the key elements of "Till the World Ends" mirror "Slave," from the videos' sweaty dance scenes to the sexy wardrobe changes to an almost identical scene in which Britney sits among a group of sultry dancers.

And this isn't the first time the princess of pop has paid homage to herself. Spears' over-the-top videos have typically featured some distinct elements: memorable story lines ("Toxic"), standout choreography ("Oops! ... I Did It Again") and midriff-bearing outfits ("I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman"). So we can't say we blame her for looking back.

In 2008, Spears released her video for "Womanizer," which gave us a case of déjà vu, reminding us of her iconic "Toxic" clip. Borrowing a similar concept, Britney took on multiple personalities and sought revenge on a man who had done her wrong. However, the most jarring similarity was the wardrobe, or lack thereof. Spears played off the most memorable "Toxic" look — a nude bedazzled bodysuit — but took it one step further when she decided to bare all for "Womanizer."

Another recurring theme of Spears' videos happens to be a recurring theme in her real life: the constant media scrutiny. Spears has never hidden the fact that she's not a fan of all that paparazzi attention, and she playfully illustrated her battle with the photographers in "Piece of Me." But Spears' video résumé also finds her playing a variety of roles, from a young schoolgirl in "...Baby One More Time" to a bubble-gum-popping waitress in "(You Drive Me) Crazy," even a sexy flight attendant in "Toxic."

Earlier this year, the pop star reminded the world of just how memorable her music video catalog really is, when she surrounded herself with several of her classic video looks in "Hold It Against Me." The clip may have given viewers a glimpse of her past, but at the rate that Spears is going, it seems the best is yet to come.

What's your favorite Britney Spears video? Let us know in the comments below!
