What do Willow Smith and Beyoncé have in common with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Kenny Wormald? They're all starring (or in talks to star) in the latest round of remakes of beloved films and TV shows coming down the pike.

On Thursday, news broke that Beyoncé would be starring in a Clint Eastwood-directed remake of the 1976 Barbra Streisand classic "A Star Is Born" (which was a remake of a 1954 movie that remade a 1937 film). In the meantime, Will Smith is reportedly petitioning Sony to remake "Annie" (the 1982 movie and 1977 musical) starring his 10-year-old daughter, Willow, best known for whipping her hair.

In October it was announced that Leonardo DiCaprio and best bud Tobey Maguire would be starring in Baz Luhrmann's 3-D retelling of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel "The Great Gatsby," with Carey Mulligan joining as Daisy Buchanan.

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum have been working on bringing the '80s Johnny Depp-starring television series "21 Jump Street" to the big screen since 2008, and they might even get Depp to cameo in it in time for the film's March 16, 2012, release date.

And let's not forget the long hunt for a Ren McCormack (the character Kevin Bacon made famous in 1984), after Zac Efron and Chace Crawford dropped out of the planned "Footloose" remake that finally landed dancer Kenny Wormald the role of his life.

Then there's "Arthur," the Russell Brand-starring remake of the 1981 screwball comedy about a happily drunk millionaire who risks everything for love. The film has tapped everyone from Helen Mirren to Greta Gerwig and Nick Nolte.

Two recently announced remakes are "Lethal Weapon" and "The Wizard of Oz," which are still in early development and without stars attached. Warner Bros. announced their plans to reboot the Mel Gibson-starring franchise on Thursday and tapped writer Will Beall to pen the script with completely new characters. And director Robert Zemeckis announced back in November that he planned on remaking the 1939 Technicolor classic using the script from the original film, with Warner Bros. hoping Robert Downey Jr. will play Oz.

Just this past year, films from "Clash of the Titans" to "The Karate Kid" to "A Nightmare on Elm Street" were remade for the big screen and were well-received by audiences. "Alice in Wonderland" and "Clash of the Titans" went on to become two of the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2010, while "Piranha 3D" and "The A-Team" also went on to strong successes, proving that there definitely is a market for these kinds of remakes.

CyHi Da Prynce Says Hard Way Musical Will Be 'Heartfelt'

'But at the same time, it's hip-hop to the T,' the G.O.O.D. Music MC tells MTV News of his debut album.

CyHi Da Prynce may carry himself like royalty, but the upstart MC's life hasn't been easy by any stretch.

Last year, he inked with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label, but the Georgia product also suffered through personal tragedy with the passing of multiple family members and friends. So it's only fitting that the title of his debut album reflects those experiences.

"The album is called The Hard Way Musical," Cy told MTV News on Thursday (March 24). "We don't do things the Broadway — we do it the hard way. That's the slogan I'm using this year. My album is a lot of storytelling. It's heartfelt, but at the same time it's hip-hop to the T."

West and No ID will lend their production talents to Cy's debut effort, but the "So Appalled" rapper will also look to his Royal Flush producers for "Atlanta flavor."

Before The Hard Way Musical arrives, however, CyHi will drop Royal Flush 2 at the top of the summer with his Allies mixtape project following during the back-to-school rush. So far, he's making inroads on both projects, but he's also beginning to work on his proper debut, which he said he has "three to four records that are guaranteed to be on there."

"Royal Flush is more so the different parts of me, but my album is gonna be more the story of me," he said.

Lady Gaga Producer Calls 'Government Hooker' A 'Beast'

DJ White Shadow talks to MTV News about the Born This Way track, which he dubs his 'favorite song.'

Earlier this week, fans got a taste of the new Born This Way track "Government Hooker," which made its debut during a Mugler fashion show in Paris. The song's producer, DJ White Shadow, called "Hooker" a thumping, sexy track.

"To me, that song is my favorite song, and it's just a beast," he told MTV News. "I don't even know how to explain it. [Born This Way] is not a pop album; it's a pop masterpiece of music. If there was no category of pop music, you wouldn't call it pop music."

Shadow recalled how the song came together — and let's just say what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay there. "We were in this studio in Vegas, and I was playing some hip-hop stuff [for Gaga's label boss Vince Herbert], and I ran across this [old beat I had made], and we were talking about faster songs, so I sped it up and I played it for Vince."

It seems the new version of the beat, which Shadow had worked on with DJ Snake ages before he played it in that Vegas studio, was the magic that Herbert was looking for. "He was like, 'Whoa.' She walked in, and I played it for her and [producer] Fernando [Garibay]. She laid it out in two seconds. She sang over the melody and tuned it up and put the chorus in. She finished it super quick."

There's a Euro-sounding robot on the track, which comes courtesy of someone in Gaga's inner circle. "The guy that's actually talking, that's her security guard," White Shadow revealed. "We were sitting there thinking how to make a computerized voice, so we were like, 'Let's get Pete in here.' He's got a super-thick Dutch accent, and he's trying to read off paper. It was insane, and he just talks like that. That's what it's like working with Gaga. It's like a f---ing supernova. When she walks into a room, things explode."

The lyrics, White Shadow said, were written right there on the spot. "She thinks of sh-- that I can't comprehend," he said. "It doesn't make sense to me, and I'm a creative person."

A credit to her charm and smarts, Shadow summed Gaga up like this: "Working with her is totally different than anyone else I've ever done anything with. She's the most hands-on person I've ever run into. She could walk into Steve Jobs' office and tell him he's doing Apple wrong, and he'd listen. As a producer, it's super cool to be with somebody who generally cares and is fully involved."
