Michael Jackson's 'Moonwalker' To Get U.S. Theater Debut?

A Hollywood cinema is searching for a print of MJ's 1988 film with plans to give it a 'one night only' screening.

Michael Jackson's short-film anthology "Moonwalker" may finally get a debut theatrical screening in the United States more than 20 years after it was released.

Back in 1988, MJ first unveiled the ambitious project, which contained several long-form videos for songs off his then-just-released Bad album, including his famous 25-minute clip for "Smooth Criminal." The film had been scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters that Christmas, but for whatever reason, that plan was scrapped. The movie was released on VHS early in 1989, and — surprise, surprise — became a massive success. But now, more than two decades after its debut, one theater is planning to give "Moonwalker" a proper premiere here in the States.

According to TMZ, Hollywood's Arclight Cinemas is actively searching for a print of the film, with plans to show it on the big screen ... for one night only.

The idea came after Jackson fans flooded Arclight's Facebook page with requests to show "Moonwalker," and the theater is now on the hunt for a copy of the flick. Even if the search is successful, there's no word on when the premiere would occur. The theater had not responded to MTV News' e-mail seeking a comment by press time.

However, Jackson fans might not want to hold their breath. In a follow-up story, TMZ reported that the late singer's estate had blocked Arclight's attempts to secure a print of the film, with a spokesperson for the theater telling the website: "We contacted the film's directors and producers and were finally directed to MJ's estate attorney [who] let us know the estate has the [film's] rights but have no plans to make ... prints available for rent at this time."

"Moonwalker" features videos for Jackson tracks like "Speed Demon" (directed by Claymation innovator Will Vinton), "Leave Me Alone" (which was released as a promo and won Jackson a 1989 Grammy for Best Music Video, Short Form) and, as mentioned, the iconic "Criminal," which features Jackson battling a group of mobsters led by Joe Pesci.

The flick also served as the inspiration for the super-awesome Sega game "Moonwalker, which featured a digital MJ morphing into a laser-blasting robot with the aid of his chimpanzee pal, Bubbles.

Would you go see a theatrical screening of Jackson's "Moonwalker" film? Tell us in the comments.

Ashley Tisdale On The Set Of ?High Stakes?

Here's 'High School Musical' star Ashley Tisdale on the set of her new movie, 'High Stakes.' Here's a description of it:
Sharpay and her pet dog, Boi, travel to New York City for a role in a Broadway hit, only to discover the part wasn't what she expected.
From the wardrobe, I'm guessing this is a campy-type of comedy that's meant to appeal to the Disney crowd (and I don't mean that in a snarky way). I'm tempted to see it just for the dog: what a cutie :)Photos by INF Continue reading

Lil Wayne's Energy Is 'Always Up,' Cory Gunz Says

'Regardless if you're writing a verse for somebody else's album, write it like it's for yours,' MC tells MTV News of what he's learned from Weezy.

Long before Charlie Sheen proclaimed he only had one gear ("Go!"), Lil Wayne proved to be a high-octane performer. From his legendary mixtape run that saw the Cash Money rapper release a yacht-load of free material to his song-stealing cameo on DJ Khaled's posse cut "We Takin' Over," Weezy is powered like an Energizer.

It's a lesson that isn't lost on his latest protégé, Bronx rapper Cory Gunz, who guests on Lil Wayne's current banger, the rattling "6 Foot 7 Foot."

"All of his performances, whether it's a video or a live performance, his energy is always the same: It's always up," Gunz told MTV News. "If there's anything that I learned from him, it's definitely to put your heart in it. Regardless if you're writing a verse for somebody else's album, write it like it's for yours."

The upstart MC delivered for his part, with a searing verse on "6 Foot 7 Foot," which, if not song-stealing, is definitely close.

"We went straight to the studio, and Tunes [told me], 'I have something for you to hear,' and it went from there," the son of veteran New York rapper Peter Gunz told MTV News late last year. "[Wayne said], 'We gon' have to attack this.' As soon as I heard it, it was, like, instant. Some beats you hear [or] certain songs you hear in a party ... and they hit you in a certain kind of way, and that's kinda what the beat did. So we sat, and the record is now getting an amazing response. People been messing with the record, so it's dope. I'm happy to be here."

What do you think of Cory's verse on "6 Foot 7 Foot"? Let us know in the comments!

Lady Gaga Talks Paris Fashion Week Appearance, 'Born This Way'

The singer said the philosophy behind the fashion show she modeled at was about being 'really free and really free-minded.'

Lady Gaga took a break from taking over the airwaves with her new single "Born This Way" to hit the catwalk at Paris fashion week and take a turn as a runway model for her fashion buddy Nicola Formichetti. She wore his clothes at the Thierry Mugler Autumn/Winter 2011 show on Wednesday, and like any Gaga-related production, theatricality and fashionability were in the air.

CNN caught up with the pop star and the fashion designer in Paris to talk about their relationship and the inclusion of Gaga's music in the show. Formichetti had asked Gaga to be the musical director for their runway performance, and insisted that "Born This Way" close the event.

"[I thought that] for a fashion show, maybe he wants something a bit more underground, one of the more avant-garde records from the album, but he really wanted me to use ['Born This Way']," Lady Gaga said in the interview. "He said it represented female empowerment and that's what the song is all about, and I think that's what Nicola is all about, and I'm just really proud to be here."

When asked whether they were ever nervous about the reception of their respective works, Gaga and Formichetti said "no." Their show was, in Gaga's words, all about being "really subjective and really free and really free-minded" and "being proud to be a woman" instead of giving in to the "competition and race" that she felt criticism through the Internet has created.

"Scrutiny is like this massive thing now in this century. For Nicola and I and for everyone that we work with, it's all about your peers, it's about people that you respect. It's about knowing your own strength artistically," the singer explained. "I think if you ever backtrack or if you ever show a sign of insecurity, it shows sort of a weakness in the idea. Stop analyzing everything so much. Analysis ultimately, I think, leads to divisiveness."

When asked to comment on John Galliano, the British fashion designer who was the head designer for Christian Dior until he recently was fired for making anti-Semitic comments, Lady Gaga declined. "Let's skip that question. Let's keep it positive!" she said.
