The ?Runaways? starlet looked to be in a great mood as she frolicked around town, showing off her newly-dyed pink hair tips.

Dakota?s carefree disposition is good to see, especially considering the controversy surrounding her cover spot on the latest Cosmopolitan magazine.

Former fashion model Nicole Weider took aim at Cosmo, stating that using Dakota on the cover ?unashamedly markets to teen girls while insisting in press kids that its audience is over 18.?

<P>At Tuesday's (November 29) sentencing hearing for Dr. Conrad Murray &#8212; where Michael Jackson's former personal physician received four years in jail for involuntary manslaughter &#8212; a statement from Jackson's parents was read in court. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:708788.id:1673923" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "We still look at each other in disbelief: Is it really possible he is gone? It is simply against the natural order of things," Joe and Katherine Jackson said in the statement, read by Jackson family attorney Brian Panish. "We are not here to seek revenge. There is nothing you can do here today that will bring Michael back." Do you think Conrad Murray deserved the maximum sentence? Let us know on Facebook. Along with Katherine, Michael's siblings LaToya, Jermaine, Randy and Rebbie were also reportedly in attendance at the hearing. In regards to the sentence, the family said in the statement: "We respectfully request you impose a sentence that reminds physicians they cannot sell their services to the highest bidder." The judge agreed, lamenting that due to a new California law to address overcrowding in prisons, he was unable to sentence Murray to state prison. Stating that Murray practiced "horrible medicine" and had "absolutely no remorse," Judge Michael Pastor declined the defense's motion for probation and handed down the stiffest sentence possible &#8212; four years &#8212; which Murray will most likely serve in a Los Angeles county jail or on home confinement. Upon leaving the courthouse, Michael's brother Jermaine, when asked if the four-year sentence was enough, shook his head and said, "No." Katherine told local TV station KTLA, "Four years is not enough for someone's life. It won't bring him back. But at least he got the maximum, and I thought the judge was very, very fair."</p>

'X Factor' Finalist Chris Rene Signs To Epic

Third-place 'Factor' finisher will be working with L.A. Reid again.

You might be hearing "Young Homie" on the radio soon. Santa Cruz garbage man turned "X Factor"
third-place finisher Chris Rene has signed a deal with Epic Records, where he will be reunited with his "Factor" mentor, Epic boss L.A. Reid.

"I've dreamt about this moment my whole life," Rene told Entertainment Weekly. "And now its here. Working with L.A. Reid -- 'Big Homie' -- is a dream come true; he's a great man."

Rene will be label mates with another "Factor" finalist, fourth-placer Astro,
the teenage rapper who revealed to MTV News on Tuesday that he would also be teaming with Reid at Epic.

Rene was one of the breakout stars in the first season of "Factor," winning both hearts and minds with his falsetto singing/laconic rapping and a compelling backstory that followed his rise from crippling drug addiction to a near-win on the Simon Cowell-created show. The singer carved a new path in the suddenly crowded reality singing competition world by honestly detailing his drug struggles and performing two original songs during the show's run.

Just 70 days sober when he came in for his first audition, Rene charmed the judges, who agreed to let him continue in the competition as long as he promised to keep on the straight and narrow. As the season unfolded, viewers learned that his sister Gina -- who also tried out for the show -- was also a musician who had landed songs on the a number of soundtracks, including 2004's "Mean Girls."

One of the high points of Rene's run on the show was during Michael Jackson week, when he shared the story of how his grandfather, Leon Rene, wrote the Jackson 5 hit "Rockin' Robin" and stared the first black-owned R&B label on the West Coast.

Golden Globes 2012 Fashion: Red Carpet Roundup

On Sunday night, the hottest celebrities in Hollywood gathered for the 2012 Golden Globes to celebrate one of the biggest nights in movies, television, and, of course, fashion. The stars shone bright on the red carpet, showing off gorgeous mermaid-style gowns, plunging necklines and sparkling headbands.

Yet, it wasn't all about bright colors: The big trend for the night was nude-hued gowns, worn by everyone from Jessica Biel and Heidi Klum to "Modern Family" actress Sarah Hyland. "This one is really different," Hyland told MTV News of her beige lace Dolce & Gabbana gown. "I never really wore lace before so I feel very feminine in it. It's very vintage-y, classy, and I like that."

While Hyland's dress was covered in lace, first-time attendee and Best Supporting Actress nominee for "The Help," Jessica Chastain decided to adorn herself from head to toe in pearls. "It was love at first sight with this dress," Chastain said of her white Givenchy gown. "This is my first Golden Globes. There's something very pure about this dress. I'm a very pure girl."

Looking radiant in a silver Julien Macdonald gown was Nicole Richie, who finished off her look with her very own House of Harlow bag. "I thought she looked amazing," Celebuzz producer Rachel Maresca told MTV News. "We haven't seen her on a red carpet in a long time, and she came out wowing everybody. She's in Julien Macdonald with a fully beaded dress. She said it was little bit heavy, but she looked very comfortable in it, and she's rocking a House of Harlow, her own designed bag."

A-list actresses flooded the red carpet, including Angelina Jolie in a draped ivory Atelier Versace gown with red accents, Charlize Theron in a pink Dior Couture gown complete with high slit and Cartier headband, and Emma Stone in a purple and red accent Lanvin gown with a plunging neckline.

Yet, it was a lady in red that might have stolen the show: Reese Witherspoon dazzled in a tight-fitted scarlet Zac Posen dress with a sweetheart neckline, deciding to keep the rest of her look laidback with wavy hair.

"Her hair for me looked 'gorgeous without trying' type of look," Maresca said. "The dress was made for her; it looks great."
