Channing Tatum Expects Justin Bieber To Clobber Him At Box Office

'Bieber's probably going to murder us,' the 'Eagle' star says of facing off with 'Never Say Never' on opening weekend.

From the outside looking in, the movie business seems pretty cutthroat: actors competing for roles, studios competing for the biggest box office or Oscar nods. And the competition factor can be particularly fierce when multiple films open on the same weekend. So when MTV News caught up with Channing Tatum, in addition to snagging an excellent piece of video commentary, we got his thoughts on having his movie "The Eagle" opening against Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never" on Friday.

We expected him to give us a diplomatic answer, something like, "They're both great films. I wish him all the best," but much to our surprise, Tatum admitted defeat even before the gates were opened, so to speak.

"He's probably going to kill us," Tatum said of "Never Say Never" beating out "Eagle" at the box office. "Bieber's probably going to murder us. But, it's just the way it goes, you know? He can't really do anything about that."

Tatum went on to say that he's not stressing about the big movie showdown, and he'll probably end up buying a ticket to the Biebs' flick.

"You can't really get mad at it. It's just one of those things," Tatum said. "Hopefully, the kid is great in it. I'll probably end up seeing it somehow, or whatever. I don't know how, but I'll probably end up seeing it too," he admitted. "So, good job, Justin Bieber."

Wait, Channing Tatum plans to see "Never Say Never"? Does his wife, actress Jenna Dewan, have something to do with that decision?

"No comment," Tatum said with a smile, perhaps wanting to avoid any trouble that could come from naming names.

Do you plan to see "The Eagle" or "Never Say Never" at the movies? Tell us in the comments!

Amy Winehouse Is Almost Unrecognizable!

Amy Winehouse is seen leaving Fishworks in London last night - looking positively wonderful! The hair, the clothes, the shoes, the makeup - EVERYTHING! She looks so put together, doesn't she? It's such a nice change from all of those negative photos of her looking rough and tired. I have to admit that I would love to see her turn things around and get back to making music and performing.Photos by INF Continue reading

Ke$ha Rises From Oddball To Icon In 2010

This year, nobody defied description quite like Ke$ha, the pop oddity who shows no signs of slowing down.
By James Montgomery

In January, when "Tik Tok" was just starting to hit, I described Ke$ha as "a 22-year-old pop confectionary/cautionary tale." By November, when "We R Who We R" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, I had crowned her an "outcast icon." The truth probably lies somewhere in between those two statements, but if there's a better way to sum up the pop star's rather incredible rise to fame, I am unaware of it.

Because in 2010, there really was no one else who came close to matching Ke$ha, whether in terms of sheer chart dominance ("Tik Tok," enjoyed the year's longest run at #1, spending nine weeks atop the Hot 100), or pure WTF-ery. She began the year as a belching, squelching, booze-swilling party monster and ended it as perhaps the most unlikely of role models — an unrepentant oddball who not only dared to speak her mind, but defy conventions, too. And through it all, she remained largely unclassifiable, shifting between genres (pop, hip-hop, rock) and personas (dumpster-diving diva, Topanga Canyon bohemian, DayGlo star child) with each successive hit. And because of that, Ke$ha became one of the year's most interesting characters, the kind of pop oddity that leaves critics alternately grasping at adjectives and scratching their heads.

"I think 'What is Ke$ha?' is definitely the question, more than 'Who is Ke$ha?' because the 'What?' is really the thing," New York Times writer Jon Caramanica told MTV News. "When she first came into the game, she was this pop singer with a little bit of a country background, but [doing] this sort of whiny, white-girl rap ... but, if anything, 'Tik Tok' proved there's an entire audience of people who are pop fans, but who have a really high tolerance for rap music. Maybe they're not going to buy a Kanye West record, but they're not unafraid of hip-hop. And with Ke$ha, and her loose, 'I don't give a f---' approach to making these songs resonates with the loose, 'I don't give a f---' approach of the fans in listening to the songs. They hear something of themselves in her."

Of course, Ke$ha suffered for her, uh, art, becoming one of the year's most popular punching bags — particularly following a pair of bizarre performances on "Saturday Night Live" — but as the year draws to a close, her grip on the pop world seems to be permanent. Not only is she the unlikeliest of stars, she's also one of the most persistent ... and love her or hate her, you've got to admit that she made 2010 just a bit more bearable, even if it was with her willingness to push the boundaries of absurdity. Well, her songs were pretty great, too. And she did it entirely her way.

"I think Ke$ha's definitely gone way past her 15 minutes of fame, [but] the appeal with her is that there's an honesty," Noah Callahan-Bever, editor in chief of Complex magazine, said. "In a market of totally prefab pop stuff, there's almost a sloppiness to her whole persona, and I think that realness appeals to people. I think it doesn't hurt that she works with the best producer in pop music, either," he said, referring to right-hand man Dr. Luke.

In 2010, thanks to that winning combination of pitch-perfect pop and pure, unfiltered weirdness, Ke$ha pretty much conquered the world. She won over fans and earned begrudging respect from the critics. And she wore dead animals on her head. Wherever she goes in 2011, I'll follow. And I'll likely be just as perplexed as the rest of you.

Do you expect Ke$ha's party to stop or keep rocking in 2011? Let us know in the comments.

WEDNESDAY SWEXY: Shaunie O'Neal's Beau Marlon Yates Talks About Their Love

Just in time for Valentine's Day, our Wednesday eye-candy of the day is the real life arm candy of "Basketball Wives" creator Shaunie O’Neal.  His name is Marlon Yates, Jr. and he is a 23-year-old model from Los Angeles, CA.  See more pics inside from his Edge Magazine photoshoot/interview and find out what he likes most about Shaunie....

Edge: Tell us a little but about who Marlon is.

Marlon: I’m from LA born and raised. My family is from the South. I played football all my life until I got to my 2nd year of college. I committed to a few different schools but it was academics that set me back. So I left and fell into the Hollywood life. I signed with LA Models, I went to New York, signed with Fusion models, stayed out there for about a year, did my thing out there. I recently got a commercial agent and now I’m moving to the acting side.

Edge: Describe yourself as a man.

Marlon: Ambitious, hungry and a hustla.

Edge: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in this business?

Marlon: Loyalty. I learned that quick. Make people feel appreciated, people love to feel appreciated.

Edge: Describe yourself as lover.

Marlon: I just started “loving” recently so let me see…I love to give more than I receive. I like to see my significant other smile. I’m very sensitive to certain things that I really give a (expletive) about. I like to brush things off if it’s not that big of a deal. I let the little things go.

Edge: What does a woman have to do to gain your heart?

Marlon: Love me. I gotta feel it. Be ride or die with me. Just ride with me. Through thick, thin, top, bottom.

Edge: What do you do to make sure the woman in your life knows she is special?

Marlon: Wake up every morning, if she’s there, I kiss her, tell her how much I love her, tell her how beautiful she is the small things that count in most women’s’ eyes. See young girls they have a whole different mindset. But women know it’s the small things like asking her how she’s doing or how she’s feeling all that. Small things count. Most young girls are looking elsewhere. They’re looking at the pockets.

Edge: What was it about Shaunie that made you fall for her?

Marlon: First it was appearance. I was like “damn”. Once I said “damn”, I had to step to her. But I didn’t step to her the first time I saw her, it was another occasion. It was simple. She was simple woman. I like a simple woman; I don’t get caught up in the crazy world.

Edge: What’s the thing you admire most about Shaunie?

Marlon: She’s a hustla. She’s a mother, the way she looks at her kids. She’s a businesswoman. That’s what I’m saying, she’s a hustla. Sometimes I look at her like Oprah. “You can be Oprah one day”; I tell her that all the time.

Edge: What’s the one thing people would be surprised to know about your relationship with Shaunie?

Marlon: That I’m a younger and she’s older. It’s a huge surprise because of the age gap. From who she used to deal with to who she’s dealing with now. I wake up sometimes like “damn, she chose me?” because y’all are always choosing …she chose me so there’s something about the boy.

Edge: What’s the biggest misconception about you and your relationship?

Marlon: I hear “are you with her for the money?” or “I know you’re with her for the money”.

Edge: And what do you say to that?

Marlon: You’re a hater. You would love to be in my position. I can’t (expletive) with Oprah just because she’s paid. I have to be attracted to her. I can’t lay down with her every single night. I can’t. Some dudes can but I can’t. I tell a dude telling me that “you a hater”. A few of my boys told me, “You want to trade places”…that’s why I just keep to myself.

Edge: How has your life changed?

Marlon: Drastically. I’m scared to even talk to people on the phone. Scared to text message an old friend. Facebook. Some neighborhoods I used to go to. People think “oh, he’s with her, he probably got at least a million”. I think about it, dudes are always plotting. Being with her I have to represent myself differently. So I can’t hang out with my boys in the hood and do dumb s***. I’m a different man. But I’ve always been like that even before her but now it’s really like that.

Edge: What do you think about marriage?

Marlon: I never thought about it. Now, sometimes I do. I just know when you tie that knot, you tie that knot. I never thought about marriage but the way I feel now I could say, “yeah I’d marry her” but I wouldn’t push the issue. Even with another chick, if I felt the way I feel now, I’d be like “let’s get married…tonight”.

Edge: What’s the sexiest thing a man can do for his lady on Valentine’s Day?

Marlon: Surprise her. Hotel room, probably. Lingerie, dinner, smooth music. Dim the lights. I don’t know. I’m a simple guy.

Edge: What’s a perfect date?

Marlon: Something not too uppity. Where you can be yourself, you can laugh, be loud. And…not a lot of questions. I hate questions.

Edge: What do you think of Basketball Wives?

Marlon: I think the show is very entertaining. I watch it. I watch it by myself sometimes I was with her when she filmed it, I give her my two cents, “dead that situation, you don’t want to look crazy” or sometimes I get the alcohol in my system and it’s like “f*** it, slap her a** if you got to” but the sober mind is like “don’t do that”.

Edge: Any shots you want to send towards the haters?

Marlon: I would love to bash people but it’s just not in me.  I can’t even hate on anyone…not even those people who hate on me.

Kim Kardashian Is No Kleopatra

Kim Kardashian Is No Liz Taylor

Kim Kardashian attempts to channel (and interview) her idol, Elizabeth Taylor , in Harper's Bazaar with a, ahem, Kleopatra photo spread. "What if I want to go on a date with someone in New York, and then I come home to L.A. and I go on a date? I could have slept with none of them, but I would be known as being—a 'slore': a slut and a whore. But I'll do what I want. I have such a different outlook now," Kim says of her love life. I think she has a long way to go before she reaches Liz status. A looong way. But it's good to have goals.[Harper's Bazaar]

Lady Gaga Praises Her Own Voice in 'Vogue'

Lady Gaga Praises Her Own Voice in 'Vogue'

Lady Gaga knows exactly how to create buzz around herself. She's so good, in fact, that she's started to believe her own hype! In an interview in the March issue of Vogue (the cover of which she leaked on Twitter earlier this week), Gaga gushes about her talents and her conviction that her new album will single-handedly change the music world.

"Speaking purely from a musical standpoint, I think I am a great performer," Gaga says in the magazine. "I am a talented entertainer. I consider myself to have one of the greatest voices in the industry. I consider myself to be one of the greatest songwriters. I wouldn't say that I am one of the greatest dancers, but I am really quite good at what I do."

Gaga, 24, goes on to talk about her career as if she's on a divine mission to save her fans from an otherwise cruel world.

"I want for people in the universe, my fans and otherwise, to essentially use me as an escape," she explains. "I am the jester to the kingdom. I am the route out. I am the excuse to explore your identity. To be exactly who you are and to feel unafraid. To not judge yourself, to not hate yourself."

Gaga has been carrying out this mission with her three-year tour, which she compares to having open heart surgery: "I am quite literally chest open, exposed... bleeding for my fans and my music." And now she's going to do it with her forthcoming album, Born This Way. The title song, she says, is "magical" and came to her like "an immaculate conception." As for the album itself, she modestly declares that she's given her fans "nothing less than the greatest album of the decade."

What are we supposed to make of Lady Gaga's messiah complex? She's definitely not the first great artist to speak of herself like she's some kind of saint: Her self-admitted biggest influences have all done it at one point or another. David Bowie rose to fame in the persona of Ziggy Stardust, an alien sent to save the Earth. Madonna famously crucified herself on a giant lit-up cross during a recent concert tour. The Beatles, of course, once declared themselves "bigger than Jesus."

But what sets these artists apart is not their high opinion of themselves: It's the fact that they worked hard, never stopped innovating and didn't let anybody -- even their own fans -- tell them what they should or shouldn't be. Lady Gaga has most of these traits, which means she has the potential to be another superstar for the ages. But she needs to keep in mind that she's just starting out. At this point in her career, Gaga has a lot still to learn. Just as the Beatles studied in India, and Madonna learned to play the guitar in her 40s, Gaga needs to remember that she doesn't know it all. If she can stay just humble enough to do that, we'll all be humming Gaga songs for a long time to come.

Do you think Lady Gaga has too high an opinion of herself? Chime in below!
